Online Vastu Consultation: How It Works & What to Expect

An online Vastu consultation is a complete Vastu Shastra reading conducted remotely over video, where the client shares the floor plan, photographs of each room, and birth details of occupants in advance, and receives a marked floor plan and a prioritised list of remedies afterward. It is the same process as an in-person consultation, with the on-site visit replaced by a structured information-sharing protocol. I have been doing online Vastu consultations since 2017. They began as a service for Indian diaspora clients in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and the UAE who wanted Vastu guidance from India and could not find practitioners locally. They have since become a meaningful share of the practice for clients abroad, but also for clients within India who live outside Delhi NCR. This guide answers the questions clients ask most often before booking: how the format actually works, what you need to share, what you receive, how implementation happens when remedies need to be sourced locally in your country, and whether it is genuinely as effective as an in-person reading.

What an online Vastu consultation actually is

The format is straightforward. You share information about your property and your household before the session. I review everything in advance. We meet over video for 60 to 90 minutes. I walk you through what I have found and answer your questions. Afterward I send you a written report with a marked floor plan and a prioritised remedy list. You implement at your own pace, with follow-up support available throughout.

Nothing about that process requires me to physically stand in your home. The directional analysis, the elemental zone mapping, the identification of defects against the Vastu Purusha Mandala all of it is done from the floor plan and photographs. The on-site visit, in an in-person consultation, is essentially a verification step plus the trust-building element of sitting across from the client. Both can be substituted: verification through good photographs, trust through a thorough video session. For a foundational overview of what a Vastu consultation involves in either format, see the pillar guide What is Vastu Shastra?

Does it really work without an in-person visit?

This is the question almost every prospective client asks before booking, and it deserves an honest answer.

Yes for the overwhelming majority of cases. The constraint is not whether I am physically present; it is the quality of what you share with me. A floor plan with directions properly marked, clear photographs of every room from multiple angles, and accurate birth details of all primary occupants are enough for a complete Vastu reading.

In twelve years of practice and over 3,000 consultations across both formats, the cases where an online consultation has been genuinely insufficient have been rare. Almost all involved unusual property types: a sprawling industrial site with a hundred zones to map, a heritage property with structural irregularities that did not show up clearly in photographs, a multi-floor commercial building with a complicated stair-and-mezzanine layout. For these I sometimes recommend a hybrid: a more detailed remote analysis followed by, where possible, a physical site visit if the client is willing to fly someone out or wait until they travel to Delhi.

For standard residential, most commercial, and almost all numerology and logo design work, online consultations are fully effective. The "fully effective" claim is not a sales line; it is what twelve years of comparing outcomes from both formats has taught me.

What you share before the consultation

A successful online Vastu consultation depends on the quality of the information you share beforehand. Here is exactly what I ask for, and why each piece matters:

  1. The floor plan with directions marked. A scaled drawing of the property with the cardinal directions (north, south, east, west) clearly marked. If you do not have an architect's drawing, a clear hand-drawn sketch with rooms labelled and a compass reading at the front door is acceptable. The directional accuracy is more important than the artistic quality.
  2. Photographs of every room. Multiple angles per room: door view, far corner, ceiling, windows, and any major furniture or fixture. Aim for natural daylight where possible. For commercial spaces include the cash counter, owner seating, and customer-facing zones. For industrial sites include each production zone, storage area, and worker entrance.
  3. A view of the property's exterior and surroundings. Photographs of the main entrance from the street, the building's overall shape, the orientation of neighbouring buildings, and any major landscape features (water bodies, large trees, slopes). For a flat in a multi-storey building, photographs of the building exterior and the floor your unit is on.
  4. Birth details of all primary occupants. Full name, date of birth, time of birth (if known), and place of birth for everyone who lives in the home or owns/runs the business. This is for the personal-alignment layer of the Layered Vastu method the recommendations vary based on who lives in the space.
  5. A short brief about why you are seeking a consultation. New property, persistent issue you want to address, planning a renovation, starting a business whatever brings you here. This shapes which findings I prioritise in the report.
  6. A compass reading from the front door. Standing at the front door looking out, what compass direction are you facing? This is the single most important data point in the entire consultation. A smartphone compass app is sufficient. If possible, take three readings and share the average to account for magnetic interference from nearby metal.
  7. Most clients share these by email or WhatsApp over the few days before the session. If anything is unclear, I follow up before the live session so we are not spending video time on data gaps.

The consultation session itself

Once the preparation is complete, the live session runs roughly like this:

00:00–05:00  ·  Introductions and brief. I confirm the household composition, the property type, and your specific concerns. If you have a partner or co-owner, they are welcome on the call.

05:00–25:00  ·  Walk-through of the directional analysis. I share my screen and walk you through the floor plan I have marked up in advance. We go zone by zone north-east, east, south-east, south, south-west, west, north-west, north, centre and I explain what is correctly placed, what is a defect, and the severity of each finding.

25:00–55:00  ·  Remedies for each defect. For every defect identified, I explain the layered remedy: what to place where, what colour to introduce, what material substitution to make, what symbolic object (if any) is recommended, and how the personal-alignment layer affects the choice for your household specifically.

55:00–80:00  ·  Numerology and personal alignment review. For each occupant, I share the life path, expression, and personal year numbers, and I explain how each interacts with the property's zones. Specific recommendations for individual rooms (where each person sleeps, sits, studies, works) come out of this layer.

80:00–90:00  ·  Your questions, prioritisation, and next steps. You ask whatever you want there is no question that is too small. I help you prioritise which remedies to start with given your budget, time, and willingness to make changes.

The session is conducted over Zoom or Google Meet. Phone-only consultations are also possible but I usually recommend video so we can share screens and look at the floor plan together.

What you receive afterward

Within three to five working days of the session, you receive a written report by email containing:

  • A digital copy of your floor plan with each defect numbered and colour-coded by severity
  • A prioritised remedy list the highest-impact corrections at the top, organised so you can implement them in stages
  • Specific product or material recommendations where relevant (with size, position, direction, and material specifications)
  • A separate document with the numerology summary for each occupant and any name-spelling adjustments suggested
  • A short "what to expect" note describing what kinds of changes clients typically observe over the first 4–12 weeks of implementation
  • My direct contact details for follow-up questions during implementation

The report is a working document, not a one-time delivery. Clients return to it for months as they work through the recommendations.

Sourcing remedies abroad: the question NRI clients always ask

A common worry among diaspora clients is whether they will be able to find the materials and objects mentioned in the recommendations. The honest answer is: most of the time, yes, with minor adaptation.

Here is how the materials side of the recommendations works in practice for clients in different countries:

United States and Canada. Indian grocery stores in major metro areas (Edison NJ, Sunnyvale CA, Mississauga ON, Surrey BC) carry brass diyas, copper items, and basic Vastu objects. Amazon US/CA reliably stocks yantras, Sri Yantras, and decorative Vastu items. For specialty items I sometimes recommend Kalash USA or specific Etsy sellers I have vetted over time.

United Kingdom. Asian markets in Wembley, Southall, Leicester, and Birmingham carry the staples. Amazon UK has a smaller Vastu selection than the US but covers most needs. For brass and copper items, specialist Indian-import shops in Wembley are generally reliable.

Australia. Indian grocery stores in Parramatta, Glen Waverley, and Harris Park stock the basics. Amazon Australia has improved Vastu inventory significantly since 2024. Smaller cities outside the major metros sometimes need international ordering, which I help clients navigate.

UAE and Singapore. Both have strong Indian retail presences and dedicated Vastu specialty shops. Sourcing is rarely an issue.

Other countries. For clients in countries without strong Indian retail (much of continental Europe, Japan, Latin America), I provide alternative material recommendations using objects that achieve the same energetic effect through different cultural objects. The Layered Vastu method (https://www.layeredvastu.com/methodology) is built to be substitution-tolerant where necessary.

When I send the report, I include a sourcing note for each material item typical Indian name, English name, and where to find equivalents in the client's country.

How pricing and timeline work

Online Vastu consultations are priced based on the property type and the depth of the reading. For accurate current rates please reach out directly via the contact page https://www.layeredvastu.com/contact-us or WhatsApp on +91 9354096746. As a rough guide:

  • A residential consultation for a single home or flat typically takes 4–7 days from booking to delivery (preparation + live session + written report).
  • A commercial consultation for an office or shop takes 5–10 days depending on complexity.
  • An industrial consultation typically takes 10–14 days because the directional and zonal analysis is more involved.
  • Numerology consultations and Scientific Logo Design projects have their own timelines see the dedicated service pages.

I work in Indian Standard Time (IST). Live sessions are scheduled to suit your time zone, with the morning India hours typically working well for US clients (their evening), the afternoon India hours working for UK and Europe (their late morning to early afternoon), and late afternoon India hours working for clients in Australia and the East Asian region.

Online vs in-person: a side-by-side comparison

For clients who can choose between formats typically those in Delhi NCR here is the honest comparison:

Dimension Online consultation In-person consultation
Duration of live session 60–90 minutes 90–120 minutes
Preparation by client Floor plan + photos + birth details shared in advance Same, plus accommodating a site visit
Total time from booking to report 4–7 days (residential) 7–14 days depending on travel
Geographic availability Worldwide Delhi NCR only
Cost Lower (no travel time billed) Higher for properties outside immediate Delhi
Verification of property details Through photographs Direct observation
Trust-building Through video conversation and written report Through physical presence
Implementation support Email, WhatsApp, video follow-ups Same
Typical accuracy Equivalent for residential, most commercial, all numerology Marginally better for very complex industrial sites

For most prospective clients the comparison answers itself: if you are not in Delhi NCR, the online format is the only practical option, and it is fully effective. If you are in Delhi NCR, you can choose either. Many local clients still prefer online because it fits more easily into a working day.

Booking and next steps

If you are an Indian-origin family abroad, an Indian resident outside Delhi NCR, or anyone who has been put off by the perceived inconvenience of in-person Vastu, the online format removes the barrier without compromising the work. After nine years of running this service, I would say it has done more to make Vastu Shastra accessible to global Indian families than any other change in the practice. To start, message me on WhatsApp at +91 9354096746 or email reply@layeredvastu.com. The first conversation is to understand your property and your concerns there is no commitment until you decide to move forward.

FAQS

For residential properties, most commercial spaces, and all numerology and logo design work, online consultations are fully effective. The directional analysis and remedy recommendations come from the floor plan and photographs you share, not from physical presence. Across twelve years and 3,000+ consultations in both formats, the only cases where in-person has been genuinely better are unusual industrial sites or heritage properties with structural irregularities. For everything else, the formats produce equivalent outcomes.

The full process takes 4 to 7 working days for a residential property. Day 1 is information sharing you send the floor plan, photographs, and birth details. Days 2 to 3 are my preparation. Day 3 or 4 is the live video session, lasting 60 to 90 minutes. Days 5 to 7 cover the written report preparation and delivery. Commercial properties take 5 to 10 days; industrial properties take 10 to 14 days because of the additional zonal analysis required.

Six things: the floor plan with directions marked, photographs of every room from multiple angles, photographs of the property exterior and surroundings, full birth details (name, date, time, place) for all primary occupants, a brief about your specific concerns, and a compass reading from the front door. A smartphone compass app is sufficient. Most clients send these by email or WhatsApp over a few days. I confirm I have everything I need before we schedule the live session.

Yes. Indian grocery stores in major US metros (Edison NJ, Sunnyvale CA, Atlanta GA) carry most basics like brass diyas and copper items. Amazon US has a strong selection of yantras and Vastu objects. For specialty items I include sourcing notes in the report with specific store and online recommendations I have vetted over time. Clients in metros rarely have sourcing issues. Clients in smaller cities sometimes order online or substitute using equivalents I recommend.

Yes, and this is one of the most valuable times to consult. At the design or construction stage, defects can be prevented rather than corrected. I review your architectural plans, identify directional and zonal issues before walls go up, and recommend modifications to the design itself. Construction-stage consultations typically take longer (7 to 12 days) because we work iteratively as the design evolves. Many architects in Delhi NCR and abroad refer clients for this purpose.

I conduct online consultations in English and Hindi. Both are equally suitable for the analysis itself the technical Vastu vocabulary uses Sanskrit and Hindi terms in either case (Brahmasthan, Pancha Bhuta, Vastu Purusha Mandala) and I explain each as we go. Clients who are more comfortable in Hindi often choose Hindi for the live session and request the written report in English for ease of reference. Bilingual reports are available on request at no additional cost.

Three ways. The fastest is to message me on WhatsApp at +91 9354096746 most consultations are booked this way and the response time is usually under 24 hours. You can also email consult@layeredvastu.com or use the contact form at layeredvastu.com/contact-us. After your initial message, we discuss the property and your concerns briefly, agree on the consultation type and timeline, and you share the preparation materials. The booking is confirmed once preparation is received.
